Dan Bewley puts ‘er on the box at the season-opening FIM Speedway Grand Prix at Landshut
With the lift of the start ribbon and crack of the throttle the 2025 FIM Speedway Grand Prix season got underway on Saturday, featuring Monster Energy-backed Dan Bewley clutch race to a career-first 2nd place podium finish at the WWK FIME Speedway GP of Germany - Landshut.
Bewley, who placed 4th overall last season in the world’s premier speedway series, transferred to the main event in the new format via highlight wins in Heat 13 and the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) #2.

“For me, I got off to a little bit of a slow start, but the points were there at the end of the night. And, yeah, I’ve never got 2nd before,” said Bewley. “The track was almost like a couple of the big tracks in Poland, but quite narrow. We got done with practice and that was pretty fun. But when the racing began, and you go in there with four riders, you can really tell how narrow it is. Very long straights and I think it’s a pretty cool track.”

Having not raced a regular season SGP stop at the 12,000 capacity OneSolar Arena since 1997, Bewley commented on SGP’s return to Landshut - home of the Landshut Devils in the Polish Second Division – for the 2025 SGP season opener:
“I think it’s cool. I love coming here. Lot of German fans, a lot of fans from Poland, and a few British fans as well. Everyone seemed happy and the stadium was full.”

Without semifinals in the new format, Monster Energy’s Freddie Lindgren, last year’s overall 3rd place podium finisher, and Jack Holder (6th overall in ‘24), each of whom had enough points to reach the semifinal races at Landshut with the 2024 format, were forced to LCQ #1 – and placed outside the top two transfer spots, placing 3rd and 4th, respectively. Lindgren would end up in 5th place at Landshut (12 SGP championship points), while Holder placed 9th with eight points.
