Monster Energy Racers Sweep 450/250 class at Indy SX
Cooper Webb dominates at Indy, winning by 8.4 seconds ahead of his teammate, Justin Cooper while Seth Hammaker won 250 East/West Showdown.
Monster Energy’s Cooper Webb (Star Racing/Yamaha) continued his workman-like approach to Monster Energy AMA Supercross’ premier 450 class, taking the lead from holeshot winner Justin Barcia (Gas Gas) on the opening lap and running virtually mistake free through the checkers for an 8.4 second victory over his Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha teammate, Justin Cooper.
And completing the Monster Energy 450/250 class sweep of Indy was Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Seth Hammaker, who won the 250 East/West Showdown that featured all of the top racers from both the eastern and western regions. 250 WSX class points leader, Haiden Deegan (Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha), would also make the podium in 3rd place on Saturday in Indy.

The win for Webb, his third of the 2025 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season and first ever at Lucas Oil Stadium, increased his lead in the overall 450 class points chase ahead of defending champ Chase Sexton (KTM) to 15 points, 193-178.
“It was an all over the place day. Obviously, I had that crash there,” said Webb of his massive Qualifying Session 2 get off in the whoops section. “That wasn’t great. But I was able to walk away. Bike was pretty mangled, so that put an end to that. But I was pretty fired up. Definitely wanted to go out in the main event and get back on point, and I was able to do so. Got a great start, made it happen early, and led every lap. It was a great race for me.”
In the 450 main start, Monster Energy/Kawasaki’s Jason Anderson managed to tip his bike over in the opening corner, and collected the previous week’s (Daytona) winner, Ken Roczen (Suzuki). This would be key as Roczen, with four premier class victories at Lucas Oil Stadium and one of the favorites to win Indy, would be non-factor in the overall podium. Webb would make quick work the holeshot winner, Justin Barcia, passing the Gas Gas racer on the opening lap and leading through the checkers.
Cooper, who started way back in 12th position, made a frantic run to the front, passing the world’s top 450 class supercross competitors – all the way up to 2nd place – for his first podium of 2025 and best race of the season thus far.
Said Cooper: “It was more about balance tonight. Point the bike straight all the way through and limit the mistakes. Felt I was making up a lot of time with the guys in front of me. Go with the flow and set up the passes. Lock it for the end of the race because it was getting pretty gnarly.”

In the 250 East/West Showdown main event, Hammaker pulled the holeshot and put himself in perfect position for the early race lead – then wicked it up and ran away with it versus the best 250 class of the year, winning by 5.766 seconds over KTM’s Tom Vialle and 13 seconds over Deegan.
“Feels really unreal to get this win. It’s been a long time since I’ve sat on top of the podium – only once before this one,” said Hammaker. “So it feels good to finally do it. Lot of sacrifices this year. Moving to Florida to work at the Dog Pound. Good confidence boost to get the podium at Daytona. Knew the win was coming… great to get it tonight.”
Several Monster Energy-backed racers finished out the top ten in the 250 East/West Showdown, including Star Racing/Yamaha’s Cole Davies in 5th, 250 ESX points coming into Indy, Max Anstie (Star Racing/Yamaha), in 7th and Garrett Marchbanks (Pro Circuit/Kawasaki) in 9th.

Notes & Quotes
- “That No. 2… what he was able to do those first eight laps was incredible.” – NBC announcer Ricky Carmichael on Webb’s run to the front in the 450 main – leading to the eventual win.
- Indy’s 250 class main event was the first of three East/West Showdown races, which brings together the top racers from each of the two (ESX & WSX) regions.
- On fire! Webb’s win at Indy was his third in the last four rounds and sixth consecutive finish of 1st or 2nd place. “Had a drama-free race,” said Webb.
- Cooper’s 2nd place podium finish, his first podium of the season, snapped a streak of four 4th or 5th place finishes. “It’s cool for the team. 1-2 is big,” said Cooper.
- Monster Energy’s Davies was one to keep an eye on in the 250 ESX/WSX Showdown as he went down multiple times, then managed to battle back to 5th place. Heck of a run for Davies at Indy, leading Carmichael to comment: “I think Cole Davies had what it took to win tonight.”
- “Those are the deepest ruts – and whoops – that we’ve seen all year long,” said Carmichael of the gnarbuckle racing surface at Lucas Oil Stadium.
- Hammaker, with just his second career win, did so with a four year gap between victories (Arlington, Texas, 2021). “Invested in himself. Changed his full and complete program both on and off the track,” added Carmichael.
- “I ended up airing out that quad, or whatever you call it, and I ended up busting up something in my engine when I landed super hard,” said Deegan. “So those last few laps… my gears were clanging a little bit. … No excuses. Those boys rode great. Tom (Vialle) and Seth (Hammaker) were better guys tonight.”
