Monster Energy Riders (250 and 450 class) Podium at Triple Crown Event
Cooper Webb (450 class) finishes 2nd in the opening Triple Crown event of the season; Haiden Deegan and Cole Davies (250 class) claim 2nd and 3rd place.
The opening Triple Crown event of 2025 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, held at Glendale, Arizona’s State Farm Stadium, had three Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha racers up on the overall 250 and 450 class podiums in the 3-race main event format.
In 450 class racing, it’d be Monster Energy’s Cooper Webb who won the opening moto, holding off a furious charge from defending series champion Jett Lawrence (Honda) to win by 2.380 seconds. Webb would go on to finish 5th in the second 450 race, then podium in 3rd place in the final race to finish one point back of overall Glendale Triple Crown winner Chase Sexton (KTM).
Following the race Webb, who hasn’t had the best history of results at State Farm Stadium, responded to NBC announcer Ricky Carmichael’s pre-race prediction of Webb likely placing just inside the top ten – instead of on the podium, as he did.
“It’s been a rough go in this stadium,” he said. "Ricky Carmichael said I’d be the wildcard in 8th this weekend. I’ve heard it all week how I suck here, so everyone can shut up.”
Also making a good run at the Glendale 450 overall was Webb’s teammate, two-time SX champion Eli Tomac. The Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha rider would win the last race, going 6-4-1, but missed out on the third and final podium spot to Suzuki’s Ken Roczen by one point.
In the overall 450 class standings (after four rounds), Tomac and Webb sit in 3rd and 4th positions, separated by just one point (75-74), with Sexton leading at 84 points.
On the 250s (WSX), it’d be Haiden Deegan who led the Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha charge, placing 2nd overall with a 3-2-4 run, despite having to deal with atypical poor starts. But even more impressive was the 3rd place overall run from Deegan’s rookie teammate, Cole Davies, who won the first two races, then slipped in the third and deciding race (opening lap crash, 8th place result) to place 3rd overall.
Said Deegan: “It was a good day. Happy with 2nd on the day.”
Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha’s Michael Mosiman, who seemed to get faster with each race, would round out the top five in scoring for Monster Energy at Glendale with a 5th place overall finish (6-4-3).
After four rounds of WSX racing Deegan is in 3rd place overall, three points back of leader Julien Beaumer (KTM), 87-84.

Notes & Quotes
- Monster Energy shout out to former Star Racing/Yamaha rider Jordon Smith, who won the 250 class at Glendale, giving the Triumph motorcycle brand its first-ever Monster Energy AMA Supercross victory.
- Cole Davies was flat out on it at Glendale, dominating the first and second 250 races and looking to have the overall in the bag when he crashed on the opening lap of the third and deciding race.
- Said Davies: “It’s not really the overall, but it’s a couple wins. Good night. Good direction.” – Davies on his first – and second – Monster Energy AMA Supercross wins.
- Opening 250 moto WSX series points leader Julien Beaumer (KTM) goes down in a corner while leading the race, unassisted, and quite literally takes half the field out with him. A few laps later Deegan, in the same corner, accelerates late and spins out on a Tuff Block, loses a spot to Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha teammate Michael Mosiman (which he later regains).
- “It was kind of hard to pass out there because everyone was doing the same thing, speed-wise.” – Deegan, who spun out in the opening moto, on the pace of the three 250 races.
- Consistency paid off for Chase Sexton, who won the overall ahead of Monster Energy’s Cooper Webb by one point – despite not winning any of the three races.
- “Anytime I’m in this room, it’s a good night.” – Webb at the post-race press conference.
- Monster Energy’s Eli Tomac’s win in the third race gave him 18 career Triple Crown race wins, more than double the 2nd place all-time winner, Monster Energy/Kawasaki’s Jason Anderson, who has eight.
