Monster MX and SX Racers Capture Mini O Championships
Caden Dudney, Carson Wood plus Monster Army Racers scored 14 championships and 39 overall podium finishes in 53rd Annual Thor Mini Os.
The last major ‘Amateur National’ of the summer, and one of America’s jewels in terms of amateur motocross races with global implications, the 53rd running of the Mini Olympiad (now called the Thor Mini Os) featured some 6,000 amateur racers competing in both MX and SX at the legendary Gatorback Motorsports Park in Gainesville, Fla.
And when the last of the Thanksgiving leftovers packed into RV fridges and Sprinter van coolers had finally been gobbled up, and the dust on the final moto had settled, Monster Energy and Monster Army backed racers had amassed an impressive 14 Mini O championships and 39 overall podium finishes.
Leading the M-claw assault on Gatorback, with an incredible four championships each, were newly minted Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha’s Caden Dudney, along with Monster Energy/Kawasaki/Team Green star racer Carson Wood. Dudney captured Mini O MX division championships in 250 A and 250 Pro Sport, as well as SX division titles in the same classes. He also hopped on Yamaha’s Big Dog, the YZ450F, and scored podium finishes in MX 450 Pro Sport (3rd) and SX 450 Pro Sport (3rd).
Wood flat out dominated the Mini O’s Supermini classes (1 & 2), sweeping MX and SX with a near perfect 2-1-1-1 effort on the week.
Flying the Monster Army flag at the Mini Os and delivering multiple titles were Diesel Thomas (Husaberg) and Avery Long (Yamaha). Thomas would win the 450 B Limited MX title, then added the SX title in the same class, while Long would capture the prestigious 450 Pro Sport MX crown and added the 450 Pro Sport SX crown for good measure.
Other Monster Army backed racers winning Mini Os titles were Kaden Johnson (Yamaha), who won the 250 B Limited MX title, and Tristian Pruett (Husqvarna), who won the Schoolboy 1 SX crown.
