2024 Loretta Lynns

Published On: 7/26/2024

World’s top amateur, and some soon-to-be pro, motocross racers meet up @ Loretta Lynn’s Ranch to decide who’s best The 43rd annual running of the Monster Energy AMA Amateur Motocross Championship, aka “Loretta’s,” is set for July 29 through August 3rd

Last year Monster Energy-backed motocross racers delivered an impressive 10 championships and 24 class podium finishes at the annual proving grounds for the nation’s/world’s top amateur motocross racers. The Monster Energy AMA Amateur Motocross Championship, presented by AMSOIL - known in the industry circles simply as “Loretta’s” - is held each August on the grounds of the late country singer Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn.

The Gold Standard in terms of its impact on future factory sponsorships and, possibly, professional racing careers, as well as bragging rights for the former pros that still get after it, Loretta’s is the race everyone serious about motocross racing marks on their calendar each year. From Area Qualifiers to Regionals, the process of just qualifying for Loretta’s is a win in and of itself.

This year Monster Energy, the event’s title sponsor now for five years, again comes loaded for bear with an All-Star cast that runs the gambit of ages and the most competitive classes.

Here’s a look at who’ll be running the M-claw logo @ Loretta’s this week, July 29th through August 3rd.

Returning Monster Energy AMA Amateur Motocross Championship champions for 2024 include: Jeremy Fappani (250 B Limited), Krystian Janik (250 B), Leum Oehlhof (450 B Limited), Landen Gordon (Supermini 2 13-16), Vincent Wey (Mini Sr. 2 13-15) and Kyleigh Stallings (WMX).

The event’s premier classes, which last season launched the pro careers of guys like Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha’s Haiden Deegan and Daxton Bennick, are the 250 and Open Pro Sport classes. This year Monster Energy will stack those two starting gates with an impressive array of young, soon-to-be-pro talent, including Drew Adams, Cole Davies, Fappani, Janik, Avery Long, Oehlhof, Enzo Temmerman and Parker Ross. These racers have the best shot at populating the 250 factory and satellite teams in the coming seasons.

Out of the younger dudes, along with Gordon and Wey, other Monster Energy racers that’ll for sure vie for titles and podium positions in the 250 B, Schoolboy 2 and Supermini 1 & 2 classes include: Caden Dudney, Carson Wood and Ryder Ellis

Challenging the 250 and 450 B Limited classes for Monster Energy will be Grayson Townsend, while Stallings will look to defend her title in WMX against a fast Monster Energy-backed racer in Mikaya Nielsen. And we’ll also see the return of former Loretta’s champ, Cole Martinez, who pulled off an improbable double in 2022 when he won both the Open Pro Sport and Junior (25+) titles. Martinez will again contest those two classes this week at Loretta’s.
