Cooper Webb Crowned King of Paris

Published On: 11/18/2024

Monster Energy's Cooper Webb (Star Racing/Yamaha) wins the premier SX1 (450cc) division at Paris Supercross.

Monster Energy’s Cooper Webb (Star Racing/Yamaha) was victorious at the 41st running of the Paris Supercross at Paris La Defense Arena this past weekend, his consistency paying off over two days and six SX1 (450 cc) division races.

Webb would podium in all six motos, which would be key as Honda’s Jett Lawrence would win five of them. But Lawrence would blink in Saturday evening’s second moto, which Webb won, with Lawrence settling on a 13th place finish. That would be all Webb needed as he held off Husqvarna’s Malcolm Stewart, going 3-1-2 on Saturday and 2-2-3 on Sunday to take the overall King of Paris SX win – the first of his career.

“Finally, I have been coming here a long time and finally King of Paris,” said an elated Webb. “Jett was the best guy, but had some bad luck and I had some good battles with Malcolm and can finally tick this off the list.”

Webb topped the list of the SX1 class racers with 13 points, with Stewart in 2nd (16 points) and Jett Lawrence in 3rd (18 points). Monster Energy’s Dylan Ferrandis raced hard and brought home a top five (5th) place overall finish over two nights of racing with 34 points – the top French finisher at the Paris race.

Inconsistent finishes also plagues defending SX2 class “Prince of Paris” champion, Monster Energy’s Jo Shimoda (Honda) as he’d get off to a great start of Saturday, going 1-2 in the first two main events, an 11th place in the third and final main put him back in the points. Shimoda would rally with an opening main event win on Sunday, but then followed that with a 15th place finish. In the end Shimoda would finish 5th overall in the SX2 class, going 1-2-11 and 1-15-2 for 32 points.

Also noteworthy at Paris La Defense Arena was the Monster Energy-backed freestyle motocross show held on the main floor during intermission in the night program. Featured Monster Energy freestylers included Julien Vanstippen, Adreau Lacondeguy and Taka Higashino
