Tomac & Cooper Power Team USA to Silver at 2025 Motocross of Nations
Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha’s Eli Tomac and Justin Cooper deliver standout performances, securing a silver medal for Team USA at Ironman Raceway.
Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha racers Eli Tomac and Justin Cooper came up big on Sunday, scoring podium finishes in the MXGP and MX2 classes, respectively, to lead Team USA to a silver medal in the 78th running of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations at Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, Ind.
In front of an estimated 20K fans, Monster Energy-backed racers were especially well represented in the battle for 2ndand 3rd places in the Chamberlain Cup race – deciding the world’s top nation in a three racer/three race scoring format on Sunday. With Tomac (MXGP) and Cooper (MX2) leading Team USA, the two would go bar-to-bar, quite literally, with France’s Monster Energy-backed racers – Maxime Renaux (Yamaha) and the recently crowned MXGP overall series champion, Romain Febvre (Kawasaki).

Tomac would open with a solid 4th place run in Race 1 (MXGP/MX2), with Febvre finishing just behind in 5th position. The two would go at it again in Race 3, with Tomac scoring a podium 2nd place finish to Febvre’s 5th place run. Tomac’s 4-2 effort would earn him 2nd place overall in the MXGP class to Febvre’s 4th place overall MXGP finish.

Renaux would race strong in Race 2 (MX2/Open), placing 5th. He the followed that up with a 9th place finish in Race 3. Cooper, who was filling in for an injured Haiden Deegan (Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha), would hold up his end of the deal with 10th place finishes in Race 1 & 2, giving him the important 2nd place overall finish in MX2.

When the dust settled in Crawfordsville, and the final chainsaw powered air horn ran out of premix, it’d be Team USA and Team France in a tie for 2nd place (behind 1st place Team Australia) with 33 points each. The tiebreaker, giving Team USA the silver medal, was Tomac’s 2nd place finish in Race 3.
Said Cooper: “It was obviously really tough this weekend, but we had a great team. We put our best foot forward, came up short, but that’s what makes it special.”
