2024 NASCAR Season Opens In Los Angeles
Yee-hah! Kick the tires & light the fires! Monster Energy will be well represented at the season-opening Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum; here’s how to check out the action on Sunday, Feb. 4th
The unmistakable roar of NASCAR’s hyper-tuned 358 cubic inch, 700 horsepower, naturally aspirated V8 muscle engines are about to shake some more plaster off the old’ LA Coliseum this weekend as one the world’s most identifiable forms of motorsports gets set to add another chapter to its stories 76-year history with the running of the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum on Sunday (Feb. 4th).
Monster Energy will be well-represented in the 150-lap, 37.5 mile tune up/exhibition contest with its super-charged youth movement, featuring the No. 54 of Ty Gibbs (Joe Gibbs Racing/Toyota) and the No. 45 of Tyler Reddick (23XI Racing/Toyota).
What: NASCAR’s Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum
When: Sunday, Feb. 4th
Where: Los Angeles Coliseum
Time: 8 p.m. EST (NASCAR Mexico Series starts at 4:30 p.m. EST)
Who: NASCAR’s top pro drivers, including Monster Energy’s Ty Gibbs and Tyler Reddick
Format: An extreme, quarter mile short course in the ‘bullring’ style NASCAR racing. LOTS of bumping, thumping and banging – a microwave version of NASCAR.
Qualifying: The start field of 23 drivers/cars will be set via four 25-lap heat races on Saturday (Feb. 3), the starting lineups in those races being determined by practice times from earlier in the day. Top five finishers form each heat transfer to the main event. Top two finishers from a 75-lap Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) will make up two of the final three positions, with last (23rd position) going to the driver finishing the highest in last year’s championship points chase (who didn’t get through the heats or LCQ).
How to watch: The Clash will be broadcast on FOX, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
