Arisa Trew Wins Women’s Vert and Best Trick at Tony Hawk’s Vert Alert 2025
Arisa Trew claims her third straight Vert Alert title and Best Trick win; Monster Army’s Egoitz Bijueska takes 3rd in Men’s Vert.
Monster Energy’s Arisa Trew continues to make history in women’s skateboarding. The 15-year-old phenom from Palm Beach, Australia, claimed first place in Women’s Skateboard Vert and Best Trick at Tony Hawk’s Vert Alert 2025, held at the Jon M. Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City. With this win, Trew becomes a three-time consecutive champion at the prestigious event, further cementing her status as one of the sport’s most dominant and progressive athletes.
The annual Vert Alert competition, hosted by skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, brings together the world’s top vert skaters for a weekend of high-stakes competition and community celebration. Now in its fifth year, the event featured both Vert and Best Trick contests, along with a Legends Demo that included icons like Christian Hosoi and Andy Macdonald.

Trew entered the Women’s Vert final as the top qualifier and defending champion. In the 25-minute jam session, she delivered a series of technically advanced and stylish runs that left no doubt about her place at the top. Her performance included a body varial 540 melon, frontside bigspin varial over the channel, backside judo air, kickflip Indy, and a switch McTwist—a trick pioneered by Tony Hawk and now mastered by Trew as the only woman consistently landing it in competition.
“It’s really good, and I’m happy with how I skated today,” said Trew. “It’s just super cool being up here with a bunch of really good girls.”

Trew’s consistency and innovation earned her the top spot on the podium and a $10,000 prize. But she wasn’t done yet. In the Best Trick event, she once again landed the switch McTwist with precision and style, securing another win and an additional $1,000. The trick has become her signature move and a symbol of her trailblazing role in women’s vert skating.
Already a nine-time X Games medalist, including a record-setting eight golds, and the 2024 Olympic gold medalist, Trew continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in women’s skateboarding. Her performance at Vert Alert 2025 not only showcased her technical prowess but also her ability to perform under pressure and inspire the next generation of skaters.

In the Men’s Vert final, 14-year-old Monster Army rider Egoitz Bijueska from Bilbao, Spain, made a strong impression in his Vert Alert debut. Competing against an elite field, Bijueska landed a series of high-difficulty tricks including a 540 Indy over the channel, kickflip varial Indy, alley-oop heelflip Indy, and a stalefish McTwist. His performance earned him third place and a $4,000 prize.
Bijueska also competed in the Men’s Best Trick event, where he wowed the crowd with a backside tailslide shove-it over the wide channel—a technical and stylish move that capped off a breakout weekend for the young Spanish rider.
With rising stars like Trew and Bijueska leading the charge, Tony Hawk’s Vert Alert continues to be a proving ground for the future of vert skateboarding. The event not only celebrates the sport’s roots but also showcases its evolution, driven by a new generation of fearless and innovative athletes.
