Monster Energy’s Tom Schaar delivered a standout performance at the 2025 Rockstar Energy Open, claiming first place in the Men’s Skateboard Park competition. Held at Tom McCall Waterfront Park, the annual event drew top skateboarders from around the world for a weekend of high-energy action, music, and fan experiences.

The Rockstar Energy Open, now in its fifth year, has become a staple in the global skateboarding calendar. From August 15–17, the event welcomed over 100 elite riders from across the globe to Portland’s scenic waterfront district. With $230,000 in prize money on the line, the competition featured both Street and Park disciplines, showcasing the best in technical skill, creativity, and style. Fans enjoyed free entry, live musical performances, and interactive brand activations throughout the weekend.

Energy levels were high in the Men’s Skateboard Park finals on the California Skateparks-designed course. In front of a capacity crowd, 25-year-old Schaar from Malibu, California, rose to the occasion. After missing a trick in his first run, Schaar came back strong in Run 2, stringing together a flawless line that earned him a score of 90.50 points.

“I’ve been working hard to dial in my lines and stay consistent,” said Schaar after the win. “Portland always brings out the best in everyone, and the crowd was unreal. I’m stoked to take the win here—it means a lot.”

Taking his final run as a victory lap, Schaar upped the ante with an alley-oop kickflip Indy over the hip, alley-oop frontside 5-0 fakie, and a nearly landed switch kickflip, ending his weekend with flair.

Also representing Monster Energy, Liam Pace from Tucson, Arizona, wowed spectators with a massive transfer air from the small to big bowl. Pace finished seventh overall with a top score of 81.00 points.
