Published On: 10/17/2024

As rising star in the music industry, Hernandez recently had the opportunity to showcase her talent on the groundbreaking all-female music tour "Sorry Papi."

Blessed with an abundance of talent, Dominican powerhouse Leli Hernandez has become a strong presence in the entertainment scene, effortlessly shining as both an influential personality and gifted singer. Raised in the vibrant city of Miami, Hernandez has always had big dreams and flourished in her many pursuits since childhood. From music and modeling to acting and television, Hernandez has been continuously refining her craft and it shows. Now, armed with powerful vocals, a magnetic stage presence, and an eclectic mix of musical styles, she has cultivated a devoted following of admirers who are drawn to her authenticity and raw artistry.

As rising star in the music industry, Hernandez recently had the opportunity to showcase her talent on the groundbreaking all-female music tour "Sorry Papi." Not only did this platform allow her to share her music with a larger fan base, but it also provided a special occasion for her to engage with supporters in a genuine and impactful manner.

“Since I was little, I was at home dancing and performing for my family,” Hernandez said. “Now, it’s like, wow, this is the show for my family. I’m going to sing on a stage. I’m doing it. It’s dope.”

Every member of the team, from the tour manager to the artists creating art installations, is part of an all-female team aiming to create a space for self-love and connection. This spirit of solidarity was felt throughout the tour, with other performers including Lexy Panterra, bilingual Latina girl group Bella Dose, and a variety of favored female DJs.

“Where I am now, versus where I was before, I feel like this girl coming out of her shell, trying to have a voice in the world, trying to find herself,” she said. “And I feel like, okay, I got some shit to say. I feel like I have something to represent.”

Reflecting on her musical journey, Hernandez confesses to questioning her ability to write and sing her songs. Initially, she had no idea that music would become such a crucial part of her life. While acting came more naturally to her in terms of finding opportunities, her music career presented a different challenge. In a prior interview, Hernandez shared that she found it difficult to discover her sound, determine what she wanted to express, and choose the language in which to do so. Her main goal was to be authentic and remain true to herself.

“You look at an artist and think they have everything figured out,” she said. “It’s like people. You think people have things figured out, like this is who I am, this is what I think, and this is what I’m going to do. But no, it’s like I have learned not only who I am, but who Leli is as an artist in the process.”

Navigating through the highs and lows of emotions from solitude, romantic struggles, and life transitions, music became her outlet. Turning to poetry, monologues, and songs as a means of emotional release, she found support from her musician friends who encouraged her to step into the studio. Quickly falling in love with the recording process, Hernandez realized that while acting allowed her to embody various personas, music demanded that she be herself. Bringing together her American roots and Latin culture, she now thrives in both worlds equally.

“Everything I’ve done has led me to now,” she said. “I’m really pouring my heart on that stage. My lyrics are what I really go through.”
