Monster Energy Athletes Dominates Day 3 of X Games SLC 2025 with Historic Gold Medal Runs
Ryan Williams, Kevin Peraza, and Filipe Mota redefine action sports with never-been-done tricks and gold medal wins at X Games Salt Lake City 2025.
This is what action sports history looks like! The final day of X Games Salt Lake City pushed the boundaries with record-setting tricks and never-been-done moves.
When the dust settled, Monster Energy riders claimed a total of six medals (three gold, two silver, one bronze) in three contest events at Utah State Fairpark and Event Center. And over the course of the entire weekend, Monster Energy riders stacked up a savage count of 21 medals in the 74th edition and 30th anniversary of X Games.
X Games history happened in BMX Dirt Best Trick when 31-year-old Ryan Williams from Sunshine Coast, Australia, landed the world’s first triple backflip on dirt for the gold medal. The never-been-done tricks continued in Skateboard Street Best Trick, where 19-year-old Filipe Mota from Patos de Minas, Brazil, landed a Caballerial kickflip backside tailslide fakie for the gold medal. Finally, the SONIC Dave Mirra BMX Dirt Best Trick saw 30-year-old Kevin Peraza from Tucson, Arizona, land a never-been-done tailwhip wall ride transfer for the gold medal.

BMX DIRT BEST TRICK: RYAN WILLIAMS MAKES HISTORY WITH “NBD” TRIPLE BACKFLIP
BUSTED SHOULDER, UNBROKEN SPIRIT: Williams was battling a shoulder injury but refused to let anything stop him from attempting the impossible, the world's first triple backflip on dirt! In a heated 20-minute jam session where riders were pushing boundaries and taking heavy slams, R Willy rose above it all. The 31-year-old Australian made X Games history with a perfectly executed triple backflip over the big jump, a trick never landed on dirt terrain before!
"I've been practicing at home, it's so scary for me to do. But this is the perfect place to land it. Triple flip for thirty years. Happy birthday, X Games!" said Williams after claiming his spot in the history books.
DOUBLE GOLD WEEKEND: This marked Williams' second gold of the weekend after conquering BMX Dirt on Saturday, proving there's nothing that can stop R Willy when he's on a mission! Williams now owns 13 X Games medals (11 gold, 2 silver).
STONE LANDS CASH ROLL AND CLAIMS SILVER: 21-year-old Monster Army rider Kaden Stone from Lake Elsinore, California, came to SLC with a plan and executed it perfectly! His double cork cash roll on the second jump launched him to silver and proved his year of preparation at Nitro Circus paid off.
“Last year, I had a plan to come back this year and land the double cash roll. Big thanks to Nitro Circus for allowing me to go there and get that trick dialed,” said Monster Army’s Stone in Salt Lake City. He now owns two X Games silver medals.

MEN'S SKATEBOARD STREET BEST TRICK: MOTA AND NYJAH DROP NEVER-BEEN-DONE TRICKS
NBD BATTLE ROYALE: The Men's Skateboard Street Best Trick session turned into an all-out war of never-been-done tricks, with only the most technical combinations having a shot at the podium!
MOTA'S MASTERPIECE: Last year's silver medalist Filipe Mota from Patos de Minas, Brazil, came locked and loaded with an ace up his sleeve! On his second attempt, the 19-year-old unveiled a never-been-landed-in-competition Caballerial kickflip backside tailslide fakie on the big rail for gold!
"It feels unreal. I always wanted to do this trick in a contest. And I'm so glad I was able to make it happen. Thank you, Salt Lake City and X Games!" said Mota after making history. Mota now owns two X Games medals (one gold, one silver).

NYJAH'S NBD RESPONSE: Defending champion Nyjah Huston wasn't about to go down without a fight! The legend unleashed his own brand-new technical creation, a perfectly executed nollie heelflip backside noseblunt slide on the big rail for silver! And while the internet will be debating the judging for the next few days, these are the facts, and we’re stoked for double podiums for Team Monster Energy! He now owns 26 X Games medals (15 gold, seven silver, four bronze).

BMX PARK BEST TRICK: PERAZA BATTLES THROUGH HEAVY SLAM FOR NEVER-BEEN-DONE GOLD
REDEMPTION TIME: Defending champion Kevin Peraza from Tucson, Arizona, came into the SONIC Dave Mirra BMX Park Best Trick finale hungry for redemption after missing podiums all weekend. Time to remind everyone why he's the king of this discipline!
PAIN FOR GAIN: The 30-year-old started strong with a flair whip turndown, but he had something never-been-done brewing. Going for action sports history, Peraza attempted a tailwhip to wall ride transfer from the vert extension to the wall behind the pool deck but paid the price with a HEAVY slam that had everyone worried!
REFUSING TO QUIT: Most riders would call it a day after that crash, but not Peraza! Refusing to let down the fans, he came back on his next attempt and nailed the never-been-done tailwhip to wallride transfer for the hard-earned gold medal!
“To walk away with gold here after two weekends of X Games is unreal. I took a big slam in one of the hits but I’m happy to just walk away healthy and get it done. I was not going to slam and not get it done,” said Peraza. “It motivates me to step out of my comfort zone and try new things.” Peraza now owns 13 X Games medals (eight gold, three silver, two bronze).
TRYON'S BRONZE BANGER: 24-year-old Bryce Tryon from Lodi, California, had the crowd going wild with massive flair variations in the deep end! After a huge flat 900 flair put him in top-three contention, Tryon sealed bronze with a high-flying 900 turndown flair, stylishly contorted in mid-air!
“Going in, I really knew that was the trick I wanted to do,” said Tryon upon earning bronze in SLC. He now owns two X Games medals (one silver, one bronze).

AND THAT'S A WRAP!
Over the course of X Games Salt Lake City, the Monster Energy team claimed a total of 21 X Games medals (seven gold, eight silver, six bronze). Congrats to the team on pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in action sports!
