Tom Schaar Claims Victory in Final Edition of Iconic Bowl Skateboarding Contest

Monster Energy congratulates team rider Tom Schaar on taking first place at the Vans Pool Party 2025. In the final edition of the iconic skateboarding competition at the Vans Skatepark in Orange, California, the 24-year-old from Malibu, California, earned the victory in a field of the world’s best bowl skateboarders.

In the Women’s Division of the contest, 14-year-old Monster Army rider Arisa Trew from Palm Beach, Australia, took first place. The Master’s Division competition saw 50-year-old Rune Glifberg from Copenhagen, Denmark, take the win in a field of skateboarding icons.

On January 18, 2025, the final edition of the legendary Vans Pool Party was contested at the Vans Combi Pool with a $125,000 prize purse. The pool is an exact replica of the original pool at the historic Upland Pipeline Skatepark that set the stage for vertical skateboarding’s evolution in the 1980s. Since 2005, the Vans Pool Party has provided a multi-generational showcase of vertical bowl riding all the way until this last event.

Monster Energy’s Tom Schaar dropped into the final as a four-time winner of the Vans Pool Party. Between 2017 and 2019, Schaar won the event back-to-back three consecutive times.

In the last edition of the contest, Schaar worked the entire Combi Pool with creative transfers and technical tricks. Standouts including massive McTwist and kickflip Indy in the deep end, backside lipslide transfer over the hip, tailgrab 540 in the square pool, huge alley-oop ollie, frontside blunt transfer the hip, frontside feeble grind through the corner, bigspin backside lipslide, backside tailslide, and alley-oop frontside nosebone the hip earned Schaar the win in the final Vans Pool Party.
