Jack Holder wins ’25 FIM Speedway of Nations final, leads Oz to overall team title

Published On:: 4/10/2025

Australian speedway ace, Jack Holder, was victorious on Saturday at the FIM Speedway of Nations Grand Final in Torun, leading the Australian team to its second team championship (’22) in four years over the perennial speedway powerhouse host nation, Poland (2nd).

Holder, along with Aussie teammate Brady Kurtz, would outduel the Polish team, led by recently crowned FIM Speedway Grand Prix champion Bartosz Zmarzlik and Monster Energy’s white-hot Patryk Dudek (the ’25 individual Polish and European champion, Polish Team champion and Danish Team champion) by a 7-2 count for the FIM Speedway World Championship’s Speedway of Nations gold medal – Holden’s second of his professional speedway career.

...

Said Holder of the Grand Final matchup alongside Kurtz, versus Poland’s Zmarzlik and Dudek:

“I knew I needed to watch my back – that first corner was pretty tight. I just held on, pushed and shoved, showed some Aussie grit. I looked for BK (Kurtz) and there he was – rocket man! I just kept looking up at the big screen to wee where the Poles were and rode it home.”

...

Added Kurtz on his Grand Final-winning teammate, Holder:

“Jack was so solid all night. He made every start, looked for me and gave the run through. Sure enough, when the straight came in the Grand Final, Jack was in front, looking over his shoulder and waiting for me to come past. … We were solid all race. We were so good together. I am really happy with this one.”

...

For the Speedway of Nations scoring, the Monster Energy-led Aussie team would beat Poland by two points for the title, 37-35. Denmark would take the bronze medal, followed by Monster Energy’s Freddie Lindgren’s Team Sweden in 4th and the fifth place team, Great Britain, with Monster Energy’s Dan Bewley.

Added Australia’s team manager, Mark Lemon:

“To win gold here in Poland … we could have only dreamed of that some years ago. We got a taste for success in Vojens (Holder’s ’22 Speedway of National gold medal), and that has rolled on into 2025.”
