FIM Speedway GP’s back on the rails, Freddie Lindgren podiums at Latvia-Riga
And just like that, FIM Speedway GP was back up to speed, running Round 8 of the popular series at Latvia’s Bikernieki Speedway Stadium in Riga. And battling his way to the No. 2 position on the OlyBet FIM Speedway GP of Latvia – Riga was Monster Energy’s “Fast” Freddie Lindgren.
Getting off to a sluggish start at Riga, an event he’s now finished in the runner-up position for three straight years, Lindgren came away from his first two heat races with only one (1) point – placing 3rd in Heat 2 (one point) and crashing out of Heat 7.
Lindgren would then wick things up, winning his next three heats, along with the LCQ, before running to a solid 2nd place finish in the Final. With the effort at Riga, Lindgren would come away with 18 points, bringing his season total to 117 points, and placing him nine point up on Monster Energy’s Dan Bewley for the third and final overall SGP championship podium position. Bewley ran real well in the heats at Riga, winning qualifying.

“I had to dig real deep tonight,” said Lindgren. “Crashed out pretty hard. Then we had the rain fall, and a long wait as well. I was down deep there. But I got a few wins, got some confidence back there myself. Win after win and was able to get into the Final.”
In terms of race strategy at Riga, Lindgren said he was focused on position – especially in the first turn. “I didn’t get very good starts tonight, but I was determined to put myself in good position in the first corner,” he said.

And for the remaining two rounds of the 2025 FIM Speedway GP season, Lindgren is looking forward to mending and focusing, mentally, in the next few weeks before the series reconvenes in Poland (Wroclaw), August 30th.
“I was a bit battered and bruised – and a bit beaten, mentally,” he said. “I’m going to do the best I can in every round, and we will see where we end up. If we can get a medal again, I will take it.”

Monster Energy’s Jack Holder also made the top five at Riga, scoring 12 points in a solid 5th place run. And right behind Holder was Bewley, in 6th position with 11 points.
