With a Stage 2 victory in the Modified Production SSV (or SXS in the U.S.) class at Rallye du Maroc on Sunday, Round Five of the 2023 FIA World Rally Raid Championship, Monster Energy’s Sara Price (BFGoodrich/Can-Am) took another step in preparing for her ultimate goal in off-road racing – the ’24 Dakar Rally in January.

Price, with co-driver Jeremy Gray, topped the FN Speed Team Racing duo of Sebastian Guayasamin (Ecuador) and Fernando Acosta (Argentina) by two minutes, 11:34 to 11:32, for the win.

“Our first World Rally Raid Stage win!,” exclaimed Price on her personal social media page. “It was an emotional day after all the hard work it took to get here. This dream is finally coming to life, but I’m enjoying every minute of it!” Time to regroup and get ready for Stage 3 tomorrow. The key is to stay consistent and keep our BFGoodrich/Can Am Off-Road in tip-top shape. We still have three more days of racing to do here in Morocco.”

Price would further discuss her ultimate goal, Dakar, with DirtFish.com – her Rallye du Maroc media partner.

“In terms of progress towards Dakar, this was good,” she said. “We know the stages on Dakar will be long and even longer than stage one here, but we took a whole heap of experience today. We certainly learned a lot. We’re here as rookies and, yes, I want to go faster, but to come back and see the whole team smiling at what we’ve done was great.”

Next up on Rallye du Maroc is Stage 3 is another Zagora to Zagora route, 108 km liaison with a technical 336 km Special Stage.
