She’s a 21 year old kiwi shredder who holds 7 X Games medals and Olympic gold, silver, and bronze medals.
She joined the Monster Roster in 2020 & has dominated ever since. She’s staying buzzed on the slopes with a Juice Monster Papillion, one you’ll definitely see her drinking at Winter X Games ‘23. She’s made history multiple times. Before she breaks more records at Winter X 2023, let’s get up to speed on all things Zoi.
She has 7 career X Games medals from 6 appearances. She has 3 gold and 1 silver in Slopestyle as well as 1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze in Big Air.
The 7 medals before age 21 is ahead of the pace set by her hero Jamie Anderson, who earned 6 by 21 and now owns the most medals (21) of any woman in X Games history.
At Winter X Games Aspen 2022, Zoi Sadowski-Synnott became the fourth woman to win double gold in XG Snowboard at a single event.
She joined Jamie Anderson (Aspen 2021), Tara Dakides (Mount Snow 2000) and Barrett Christy (Big Bear 1997).
At Winter X 2022, she completed her goal by becoming the first woman in ski or snowboard to land back-to-back double corks in any contest Slopestyle run!
Judges called her Run 3 Slopestyle pass “arguably the best women’s slopestyle run, ever” – as impressive in the rail section up top as it was on the jumps at the end.
2022’s season gave her plenty to froth about: Zoi captured Olympic slopestyle gold at the Beijing Games.
“It was the craziest three months of my life and definitely the highlight of my career so far. All the biggest goals that I set back when I was first getting into competing, I achieved pretty much all at once. I’m even prouder knowing that I put some runs down that set a new bar for women’s snowboarding and got to show the whole world what we're capable of.”
It was New Zealand’s first-ever Winter Olympics victory. She also took silver in Big Air, improving on her bronze medal won from the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics.
She doesn’t just dominate contests. During her southern hemisphere winter season in New Zealand, she learned a new switch backside 1260, becoming the first woman to land the trick.
As a New Zealand native, sometimes family seems far away. Her older brother, Dylan, is working as a snowboard instructor at Buttermilk and living in Aspen this season.
“None of my family have been to watch me at X Games, so it will be quite special,” she says. “They’re all hugely supportive, but it’s an awfully long way from Wanaka to Aspen.”
