HISTORY MADE - McLAREN’S FIRST EVER BAHRAIN WIN

Published On:: 2025/04/13

Turn up the volume and feel the ground shake — because McLaren just ripped the desert to pieces. Under the lights of Sakhir, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris turned the Bahrain Grand Prix into a papaya-powered showcase of straight-up racing fury. This wasn’t just a win; it was a statement and the paddock felt every bit of it.

...

OSCAR LIGHTS IT UP
Right off the jump, Piastri came out like a cannonball — launching clean off the line, shaking off Russell at Turn 1, and owning the inside like it was built for him. First corner his ,first place locked. From there, he never looked back. Smooth, sharp, and deadly consistent, Oscar ran the race like a seasoned pro. He pitted on Lap 14, switched to Mediums, from there, he stretched a 5-second buffer to Russell like it was light work. This was Oscars’ race, cool, calm and pure control.

LANDO GOES TO WAR
Norris, starting P6, came alive at lights out. Launched up three spots in seconds and then bullied his way past Leclerc into P3. Yeah, he took a five-second penalty for being out of position at the start, but that didn’t stop him from grinding. Served it on Lap 10, dropped to P15, and clawed his way back like an apex predator on a mission. He traded blows with Leclerc all race long — side-by-side duels, wheel-to-wheel and a lock-up that would’ve rattled most. With five laps to go, he dropped the hammer and made the pass stick, taking back P3 and sealing another podium under pressure.

SAFETY CAR CHAOS
Lap 33 dropped a twist with a safety car. Both McLarens pitted, slapped on fresh mediums, and rejoined the field with Oscar still in P1, Lando in P4. On the restart, Oscar kept it icy and held the lead. Lando lost a spot but reclaimed it from Hamilton with pure brute force and then locked in his sights on Leclerc — again.

THE FINISH
Oscar crosses the line for his second win of 2025 and McLaren’s first ever victory in Bahrain

“Incredible weekend. The car was a weapon, and we executed. Bahrain hasn’t always been kind to us — but tonight? We owned it. Couldn’t be prouder.”

Lando Norris:
“Yeah, mistakes happened, but what a battle. Everyone on the edge, all race long. Congrats to Oscar — we brought home a mega result for the team. Let’s bring the same fire to Saudi.”

Andrea Stella, Team Principal:
“Oscar was on another level — precise, focused, lethal. Lando showed his class too, fighting through adversity. First win in Bahrain. First pole. Double podium. Massive thanks to our partners and the whole McLaren crew. We’re building something real.”
